Alanis Morissette

Alanis Nadine Morissette was born Ottawa, Canada, on the 1st of June 1974. Alanis' Greek name is the feminine variant of her father's name: Alan. She has two siblings: Chad (Alanis Twin) and Wade. In the age of 6, she learned how to play piano. Then, at 21, the guitarist. In 1986 Alanis made a single called Fate Stay with My (b-side: Find The Right Man). She was a dance-pop Canadian artist She released two albums: Alanis (1991), and the album Now Is The Time (1992). She relocated to Toronto when she turned 18 and began working with writers and musicians, but these partnerships didn't pan out. In 1994, she finally was able to find the right collaborator: writer and producer Glen Ballard, who had already worked with many performers, including Aretha Franklin Michael Jackson and Barbra Streisand. The couple moved to LA at the age of 19 years old. On June 13th 1995 "Jagged Little Pill" was released through Madonna's Maverick Records. Alanis discovered a method of writing songs that was autobiographical and extremely personal. JLP has sold more than 30 million copies around the world this makes it the highest-selling female-oriented album. It is also the third most popular album in history.
